Kauai (North Shore) -Anini beach area: times to wing?

Heard that @pakaakauai Or Seth(?) (both mentioned by Rob Lawson) might help me out: Headed to Kauai mid July: being from SoCal , i'm used to only Thermals for summer winging, but looking at wind charts it looks like the tradewinds are kind of up as soon as everything warms up after sun up (like after 8am) and it does seem to get a small boost in the afternoon, but wondered if that is the actual experience from anyone who has traveled there , or is a local?

Thanks!

I know on Maui there are no wind sports before a specific time. I’ll ask my buddy on Kauai if they have any rules like that.

Checked. He says no rules like Maui. Best wind is mid day. It’s often gusty.

Agree that noonish seems best for wind, most places on Kauai. North shore is a bit more unpredictable and seems to often die around 2pm, unless it's already blowing strong trades 20+mph. Anini is a small race track flat water spot with a lots of hazards to avoid - turtles, coral head and snorkelers, much prefer Middles in Hanalei Bay. I rely heavily on the LIH airport sensor for direction as well as gusts and lull strengths. South Shore has been dying around 5pm lately for moderate trade days.

The rule you're referring to for Maui is no wind sports until after 11am, but it isn't island wide, it's just Kanaha. It's an agreement came to years ago to allow access for shore and spear fishing.
