Pretty fun at Piru!

Not quite as much wind as I’d hoped for today, but still a fun session. I dipped my toes into the back mobe arena, and it feels a lot more committing than the regular back roll. Only did 2 attempts. My rule is don’t do 3 attempts on the first day because the 3rd one always is the one you get hurt on!

It was great to see @Captainstoke61 getting on foil consistently both directions! Some footage of him half way through the reel.

Just got my first wing board, and would like to practice in a lake.

What do you do to predict the wind at Piru? I have ikitesurf and see the dam has a meter. Anyone trying to go soon?

Sent you a PM with the info. There’s a pretty big crew that goes up now and you might be able to arrange a carpool for downwinder with one of the other learners. If the forecast looks decent show up around 12 or so and I bet you’ll see people

I didn't buy a pass this year and fully regretted it. I'll buy one next year most likely. It really is a great spot. Use the Nam3km on Ikite for a pretty accurate forecast up there. If it says 15 MPH, that'll be the low/average wind. The gusts would probably be at or just over 20. So you might have to sit and wait at times, but that's usually enough wind for up there. Once you're good at getting up quickly then maybe you could lower that # down closer to 12 MPH.

Took my buddy up with me who is learning last week. We launched at the South launch by the entry gate. We rode around awhile and he lost ground. When we were ready to go I said meet you at the North launch ramp, went back upwind, grabbed the car and drove down to pick him up. Worked out pretty well.
